Biblical Reflections

Peter Marty regularly writes biblical reflections on different preaching texts of the lectionary year. Those writings appear in a range of publications including:

Feasting on the Word (David Bartlett, Barbara Brown Taylor eds., Westminster John Knox Press) is an expansive 12-volume series of lectionary commentary produced by writers from a wide variety of disciplines and religious traditions. Peter has essays within the different volumes.

The Lectionary Commentary: Theological Exegesis for Sunday’s Texts (Roger Van Harn, ed., Eerdmans) is a three-volume set that engages scripture and the preaching task in solid and comprehensive ways. Intended to “jump start” the preparation work of preachers, these exegetical essays on biblical texts from the Revised Common Lectionary answer the question: “What does the preacher need to know about this text in order to preach a faithful sermon from it?” Peter has written essays within this series.

A regular contributor to the Christian Century magazine over the years, Peter has written the “Living by the Word” essays on assigned biblical readings for any number of issues. He has also penned book reviews, and articles on faith, culture, and leadership.
