Grace Matters Host
From 2004 to 2009, Peter Marty served as host of the national radio broadcast Grace Matters, speaking to more than a million listeners through this weekly program. A broadcast ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America at the time, Grace Matters aired on more than 185 radio stations across America, and in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Puerto Rico. It was available online around the world.
The 30-minute Grace Matters program format was organized around a desire to help plant the grace of Jesus Christ more deeply into the hearts of listeners. Half of each broadcast featured a personal interview with individuals of stature in their respective fields, or meaningfully situated in everyday vocations. Notable authors, athletes, surgeons, coaches, politicians, musicians, homemakers, and people from many walks of life shared their joys and sorrows, and their own palpable sense of God’s grace at work in their daily experience.
The other half of each broadcast included reflective commentary by Peter as he drew on scriptural insight, life in parish ministry, and cultural trends and phenomena in American life.
